Rice exports grow on increased quota to China
/ October 6, 2017
Cambodian rice exports increased nearly 17 percent during the first nine months compared to the same period last year, with exporters pushing to fill orders under China’s higher import quota as European markets remained steady. A total of 421,900 tons of rice was exported between January and September, a 16.7 percent increase compared to the first nine months of 2016, according to government data published yesterday. China – which has agreed to accept 200,000 tons of rice this year – was the top destination for rice shipments, receiving 124,700 tones during the period, with 53,900 tones and 35,400 tones delivered to France and Poland, respectively.
